Since the beginning of industrial glass melting, considerable progress has been achieved in relation to furnace lifetime, reduced energy consumption, emission control and improved quality. Applications and tools have been developed and valuable expertise has been established. With the goal of producing glass in the most efficient manner, this authors of this paper consider how furnace benchmarking, balance calculation and analysis systems can be used to increase the profitability of glass production.
