Extended Model Assesses Crown Performance

Modelling programs for assessing the performance of various checker packing systems have been employed by National Refractories for over a decade. The evolution of this system has seen a series of extra capabilities added to it, the latest of which is a facility to model the effect of different shapes and compositions of regenerator crowns. This, combined with the earlier energy model and creep model give an all round assessment of the effect of varying regenerator designs and materials.
