Examination Of Two Glass Compositions For The Vitrification Of Toxic Products From Waste Incineration

Due to the new Closed Substance Cycle and Waste Management Act the topic of waste incineration has become more important. Thermal treatment of non-recyclable waste is a substantial part of this waste management. There is a possibility that the vitrification of the waste may provide the means by which the final product can be safely disposed of. The vitrification process begins with the combinationof glassformers and the residues of the thermal treatment. In an earlier work the raw materials, vitrification and results of different corrosion tests were presented. The object of this paper is to describe the formation and growth of surface layers on model glasses in leaching solutions according to MCC-IP leach test method.
