Evolution Of Glass Containers For Beer - Problems And Future Developments

In the last few years glass containers have accounted for some two thirds of packaging used by the Italian beer market. This share is higher than the EU average where beer glass packaging accounts for slightly more than 50%. This paper reviews recent evolution of the beer market in Italy and indicates some measures to take in order to find a compromise between necessity to personalise glass packaging and the need to control its costs through standardisation in the brewing industry.
