Evaluation Of Thermomechanical Stresses In Ceramic Materials

During PB forming of hollow glass in an IS machine, the mould equipment is submitted to fast temperature changes which cause rapid deterioration in metal mould components when not protected by expensive coatings or other special treatments. This article recounts a research programme carried out to assess the feasibility of technical ceramic materials as alternative IS mould components.
