Evaluation Of The Influence Of Water In Glass On The Forming Behaviour Of Container Glass With The Help Of A Mathematical Model

The container forming process is simulated with a mathematical model. To highlight the relative influence of glass colour, OH level and bottle thickness, a container with a given shape is prodcued with eight combinations of green and white glass, high and low OH content, thin and thick wall starting from equal initial conditions. The influence of the variables considered ranged in the sequence: colour> thickness> OH content. The infleunce of OH level on timing and temperature profiles was appreciable for a water content differnece of 300ppm. The differences can be expected to be neglibible for daily oscillations of the order of 25ppm.
