Evaluating Container Geometry

Judgements regarding a glass container's geometry should not be based simply on reducing the tension peak. The main target must be to achieve minimum fracture probability in service. According to the authors of this paper, this evaluation is carried out by means of the Weibull statistic, using the parameters derived from breakage tests and fracture analyses on containers that have undergone the degradation resulting from normal manipulation.
