European Standards For Glass Products Removes Barriers To Trade

The publication of harmonised European Standards (hENs) for glass products should herald the golden age of cross border trade. No longer will a glass manufacturer have to check that the product meets BS this, DIN that or UNI the other before accepting the order. This article lists standards applicable to flat glass manufacture that should be published early 2002. At the same time the "Evaluation of conformity/Product standards" will be out for public enquiry. It is these standards that will give all the detail on factory production control, evaluation of conformity and how to meet the mandate. These when finalised will become the hENs and hence the route to complying with the CPD and if you want the basis for applying the CE Mark.
