Sociological, economic, as well as environmental factors affect the consumption of glass products and the glass industry has adapted by embracing technology. The development of an increasing array of products for the glass market has placed demands on the raw materials consumed. Increasing pressure to augment specifications whilst supplying an industry with declining volume requirements has placed the raw material supplier with a dynamic challenge. The future provides the opportunity for continuing mutual cooperation between suppliers and consumers if glass is to continue to be the versatile material it has always been.
