Ethiopia has an expanding beverage and alcoholic industry which are in urgent need of glass bottles which local supplies seem unable to meet. However, a planned glass bottle factory Juniper Glass Industries Private Limited Company is promising to meet the thirst for locally made glass bottles both to save foreign currency and expedite work efficiency. Brooks Washington is CEO of Roha Ventures, parent company of Juniper. He told reporters: "Juniper is going to be a glass factory for Ethiopia, based in Debre Birhan. It is a US$ 50m project, and we will be producing about 150 million/bpy, both for local regional, international consumption. We’ve been working on this project for over a year and construction will start in the next six weeks. And then it will just take us over a year to actually build it, by the end of 2016 we will be producing glass bottles and selling them here and abroad." Juniper Glass is a project by Roha ventures, that invests in Greenfield and early stage manufacturing companies.
