Estimation Of The Homogeneity Of Glasses By The Christiansen Filter Method

Homogeneity is a complex property which cannot properly be described by a single number and no generally accepted methods of measurement exist. Density measurements of the kind routinely used in some glassworks use samples too large in size and too few in number to be useful indicators of homogeneity. The development of other useful techniques would be welcome. This paper discusses one method which has been widely used during the past fifteen years but has not been critically tested, the Christiansen Filter Method.
