With ever increasing regulations on the use of heavy metals and VOCs, more and more attention has been given to water borne, low temperature curing decorative coatings. Typically described as organic coatings, such materials offer the glass decorator a wide variety of colours. One issue with many such coatings however, has been the ease with which the surface can be scratched. This paper discusses the recent development of DuraSpray, an inorganic copolymer glass coating system for spraying applications. A discussion of processing parameters and general performance characteristics is included.
