The Environmental Impact Of Packaging: French Decree Of The European Packaging And Packaging Waste Directive (In French)

Based on the EU Directive on Packaging and Packaging Wastes, a new decree has been established in France and announced in the official bulletin issued by the French Republic, on 25th July, 1998. The text specifies the packaging concerned, the essential requirements that they have to fulfill when launched in the market, requirements that have been laid down in the text as standards. It further prescribes the sum levels of lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium for packaging material other than for crystalware for the following commitment dates: 30 June 1998, 30 June 1999 and 30 June 2001. Decreee number 98-638 will enter into force in France from 25 October 1998.
