Environmental Evaluation And Assessment Of Ceramic Manufacturing Systems

Ceramic manufacturing systems present a hostile combination of job stresses such as air pollution, noise pollution and heat stress. In these industries, the physical and chemical agents that are possible health hazards, are present in the raw materials, in the processing of raw materials and in the final products or by-products. In view of the menacing role of environment in these industries, a survey is made in four categories of ceramic industries located in four districts of Andhra Pradesh. On the basis of the observations of the survey, an attempt is made in this paper to characterise the environment and its effects on the well being of the operators. Further, the paper focuses attention on the environmental assessment applicable to ceramic manufacturing systems.
