Environmental Benefits Of Cullet And Glassy Sand

In recent years, the glass industry has witnessed a constant increase in the quantity of cullet that is re-used to produce glass containers, levels having increased by 35% in the 1990s to over 60% today. The use of cullet produces undeniable positive spin-offs for the environment and energy savings. In this article the authors assess environmental benefits realised from the use of cullet and glassy sand in terms of energy savings and CO2 emission reductions.
