Mineral wools are used for cold, warm and sound insulation or for fire protection. From the beginning of the 1970s, research has taken place to reduce the environmental impact on production sites for glass and stone wool. At the end of the 70s, studies were launched to improve knowledge on the potential health effects of glass and rock fibres. Since 1996 the emphasis is an absolute priority.
