Energy Efficiency In Chinese Flat Glass

In March 2006, a primary survey on energy efficiency in China's float glass sector was taken by the Institute of Technical Information for Building Materials Industry of China (ITIBMIC). Five companies were surveyed, three of which were among the top 1000 energy users in China. Furnace energy efficiency data from 28 float glass lines was collected and analysed. It showed that the average specific energy consumption for China float glass is 7800 kJ/kg glass melt, around 20% higher than world average but 32% lower than the developed world. Researchers also conducted a preliminary survey on energy efficiency in the Chinese float glass industry, sponsored by the sub-programme "Analysis & Comparison of Benchmark for Energy Efficiency in Industry" of the administrative office of EU-China Energy & Environment Programme.
