[Emissions Treatment] Capturing Particulate Is Critical

ESPs and scrubbers are in widespread use in the glass industry. The Cloud Chamber System (CCS), developed by Tri-Mer Corp, has emerged as an effective and proven alternative for the control of course, fine, ultra-fine and condensable particulate exhausted from glassmaking processes. Based on recent advances in electrofluidics, the system uses charged water droplets to remove fine particles. The droplets must be of a certain size, have a sufficiently large large and in the correct number density so they create a fog-like "cloud." There is no charging of particles in the system and thus, none of the myriad problems associated with corona charging. This article explains the CCS in more detail.
