Electron Paramagnetic Resonace And Optical Absorption Spectra Of Molybdenum Ions In Lithium Fluorophosphate Glasses

EPR and optical absorption spectra of LiF-P205-Mo03 glasses reveal the presence of both Mo5+ and Mo3+ ions. Remarkable changes were observed in the spectra with changes in the preparation temperature. Marked changes in the intensity of the resonance signals were observed when the EPR spectra were recorded in the temperature range 123K to 303K. By correlating the EPR and optical absorption data, the molecular orbital bonding coefficients were estimated using an appropriate LCAO-MO scheme.
