An Electron Microprobe Data Collection And Processing System Designed For The Microvolume Analysis Of Glass

An electron mircroprobe data collection and processing system has been designed especially for the analysis of glasses and other insulating materials. The system consists basically of a non dispersive solid state x-ray detector and a highly versatile multichannel analyser (mca) with a magnetic tape memory extension. The detector has been especially mounted to maximise the x-ray sensitivity and allows qualitative and semi quantitative x-ray analysis for elements of atomic number 11 and above in one tenth the time and with three orders of magnitude less sample current than are required with conventional crystal spectrometer.
