Egypt is endowed with large reserves of high grade silica in the form of white sand and quartzite in the Sinai Peninsula, the Eastern Desert and the nile Valley. About 15 localities of white sand, varying in geological age, reserves, grades, way of assessment, and availability of infrastructure were identified by the Egyptian Geological Survey and Mining Authority (EGSMA). This short feature outlines the main deposits studied and progresses made in their beneficiation for downstream markets.
