Egyptian Glassmaking Buoyant After 5,500 Years

In modern-day Egypt, primary glassmaking is undergoing substantial expansion with new container and tableware plants about to come onstream. A key industry centre has emerged at 10th of Ramadan City, which has become home to many of the industry's major investments. Recent start-ups have included the Kama glass container factory and a tableware plant for Cleopatra Glass. More new plants are reported to be under consideration as Egypt's glassmakers take advantage of growing domestic demand and also increase export sales. This feature includes an alphabetical listing of the main glassmakers in this fascinating and rapidly-developing country.
