Efficiency Central To Uk Investment

In the summer of 1996, Lax & Shaw carried out a rebuild and refurbishment and rebuild of its No 1 shop. Next year the company will perform a similar excercise in No 2 shop. The last major construction project at the company's Leeds plant was in 1989 when production capacity was doubled with the addition of a second furnace. The emphasis with these latest changes has been to improve on what was achieved seven years ago by increasing the efficiency of the furnaces and improving the production flexiblity to match the need for short run production and rapid changeovers.
