Effects Of Melt Annealing On The Mechanical And Optical Properties Of Lead Borate Glasses

Disk shaped samples from the xPb0.(100-x)B203(x=25, 25 and 40) system glass were prepared by a melt quenching technique. A number of samples were prepared by annealing their melts at 900 deg C for different times varying from minutes to hours. Density was found to decrease on melt annealing. Ultrasonic velocity was measured by the pulse echo overlap method.
