This paper reports on the preparation of dense piezoceramics by way of reactive liquid phase sintering. Technique concerning a low-temperature sinterable process is developed by incorporating 4Pb0.B203. The host system is a perovskite type piezoceramic, Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)03. If small amounts of glass powder are added to the calcined ceramics, a liquid phase is formed during sintering. Hence, the piezoelectric and dielectric properties are enhanced and the sintering temperature can be reduced. The value of the kp, KT33 and Qm is increased and dielectric loss tangent is decreased when small amounts of 4Pb0. B203 dopants are added to the system. With more 4Pb0.B203 doping, the values of kp and KT33 are decreased due to the glassy phase segregation at the grain boundaries.
