Effect Of Silane Treatment On The Pore Structure Of Porous Glasses

Different kinds of controlled pore glasses (CPG) were modified with y-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APS) in toluene or water solution. Their porous characteristics were changed as a result of this silane treatment in different ways, depending on the initial pore structure of the glasses. The results obtained clearly showd that APS deposition from toluene led to the formation of an aminopropylsiloxane multilayer on the surface of the CPG, whereas when deposited from its water solution a monolayer coverage was obtained.
