Reboil phenomenon caused by stirring was studied as a function of refining agents and stirring temperature in alkali-alkaline earth-silicate melts. It was found that the addition of refining agents affected the gas composition in bubbles and temperature-dependence of evolved gas content. Bubbles in the sulfate-refined melts consisted essentially of N2, and the content of N2 decreased with increasing temperature. On the other hand, in the antimony-refined melts mainly CO2 bubbles reboiled, and evolved CO2 content increased at higher temperature. These results were discussed in terms of the solubility-temperature relationship.
