Effect Of The Design Of The Separating Unit On The Heat And Mass Transfer Of The Glass Mass

A model study for a sheet glass furnace producing 500 tonnes/day with various configurations of separating structure between melting and conditioning sections is reported. Higher bottom temperatures and smaller depth gradients can be achieved by modifying the barrier immersion depth, threshold height and neck width.
