The Effect Of Bottle Shapes On Mould Openings

Bottles can have a myriad of shapes & geometries. The needs of clients are those of new shapes of containers to reach the interest of the market. Starting from this consideration, mould designers need to study & obtain series of moulds that can provide creativity. Most bottles are made using moulds with two part openings: round bottles obviously, but also bottles with rectangular & similar geometrical sections. For bottles with highly elaborate shapes & sections, eg diamond-decorated surfaces, engraved patterns or just triangular sections, it is necessary to create a mould with 3, or even 4-parts, so as to avoid interference between the glass & the mould in the opening phases. This article looks at a bottle with a triangular section with which it is necessary to use a mould holder on which to position the three part opening mould.
