Effect Of Aggressive Gases On The Behaviour Of Glass Surfaces In Contact With Mould Materials

An apparatus to determine sticking temperature is described. A study of the effect of different gases on contact behaviour is reported. A treatment of the glass surface using gaseous hydrogen chloride leads to a drastic increase in sticking temperature, attributed to dealkalisation of the glass surface.
