Edge-Roll Machine In Float Glass Apparatus

A roll for contacting the upper surface of a float glass ribbon during production, is supported by water-coolers. The shaft need not be of hiigh-temperature-resistant materials, since it is internally water-cooled. There is a small distance only between the bearing and the roll, to minimise wobbling of the roll. The strucure can be used to prevent necking down of float glass in the production of extra-thin float (2.5mm or less) in a 'two-way stretch' or 'assisted-direct-stretch' process.
