Ecj Rulings On German Recycling Case

The European Commission announced on 24 May 2007 that it welcomes the Judgements of the Court of First Instance dismissing an appeal against the Commission's earlier decision that a German organisation DSD might no longer charge a fee for that part of the sales packaging bearing the `green dot'. This symbol shows that the take-back and recovery obligation, as set out in the German packaging ordinance, has been properly fulfilled by another party. As a consequence of the Commission's decision and the Court's ruling, competing systems were able enter the previously foreclosed market, leading to a reduction in the prices for collection and recycling services
