Easing The Zircon Supply Squeeze

Demand for zircon sand is continuing to rise in line with global growth. However, mineral sand producers are struggling to maintain zircon supplies, which has led to a tightening of the market. According to Victor Hugo, general manager; sales and marketing with zircon market leader Iluka Resources Ltd "There is a reduction in supply of between 50,000 and 80,000 tonnes globally on an annualised basis in 2004, based on our estimate".
