Based on the acknowledged Dutch roadmap "Routekaart 2030" - glass manufacturers in the Netherlands are pursuing their ambition to increase glass furnace energy efficiency by cooperating with customers, hardware suppliers and technology providers, forming a strong eco-system. Structured energy improvement programmes have been in place since the 1980s, which puts the industry among the top global performers. This article reviews the current situation.
