Dti Drive To Reduce Packaging Accidents

At a seminar in London on March 17th, 1999, the DTI published a series of research reports on reducing the number of packaging accidents. A guide was also sponsored, published by Nottingham University, to help designers to focus on safety right from the start. The Minister states in this article that some 63,000 people/year end up in hospital casualty departments due to accidents involving packaging - 2% of all serious accidents in the home, ranging from tins to glass and plastics containers at a cost to the health services.
