Different Options For Reducing Nox Emissions In The Glass Manufacturing Industry (In French)

NOx emission control has become a major issue for European glass makers and reducing NOx is probably one of the most difficult challenges the glass industry must face. The range of means available to reduce nitrogen oxides emissions is wide. The glass industry, in view of its diversity, is the sector which has probably tested and used the largest number of NOx reduction techniques. These techniques include primary and secondary measures. Primary techniques involve preventing the formation of pollutants and secondary methods consist in destroying the nitrogen oxides which were formed at the time of combustion in the furnace. After a short survey of the different techniques which can be experimented in the glass industry, this paper gives an emphasis on the latest developments and expected progress.
