The float glass industry in China has made great progress during the past decade. The quality requirement for glass has raised the need for higher quality raw materials, especially silica sand. Consequently, the beneficiation plant for sand must improve their performance to meet the needs of the glass industry. Several years ago, Chinese processing plant for extracted sand used simple and primitive methods. Sand supply was bottleneck to the development of Chinese glass industry. Now great changes have taken place in this field. Many modernised processing plants for sand have been built. This article introduces glass sand specifications in China, describes the main Chinese operations for sand and presents individual process stages by means of flow diagrams.
