Development Of Multifunctional Glass Using The Solid Oxide Electrochemcial Doping (Soed) Method (In Japanese)

Metal ion doping was carried out using the solid oxide electrochemical doping (SOED) method for fabrication of multifunctional glass. In this method, applying the electric field to the solid-solid interface between metal ion-conducting ceramics (anodic side) and alkali ion containing glass (cathodic side), metal ion migrates inside the glass together with the substitution for alkali metal ion the the glass. The SOED method achieved pinpoint doping into the desired position in the glass with the aid of ion conducting microelectrode. Scanning ion-conducting microelectrode under applying an electric field caused the fine-patternend metal distribution in the glass surface so that the contact radius between microelectrode and glass was extremely small.
