Development Of Lightweight Returnable Bottles

To provide lightweight returnable glass bottles, a technology for SnO2 coating, which has a resistance to mechanical abrasion and repeated alkaline attacks, was recently developed. This advanced coating method treated under special chemical vapour deposition (CVD) conditions enables the production of lightweight returnable bottles with about 20% weight reducing, the same strength as conventional bottles. The CVD conditions are: The temperature on the outer surface of the bottle ranged from 550 to 700 deg C; The coating thickness of SnO2 film is in the range of 40-100nm.
