Development Of Lightweight Returnable Bottles

To provide lightweight returnable glass bottles, a technology for SnO2 coating, which has a resistance to mechanical abrasion and repeated alkaline attacks, was developed. This advanced coating method treated under special chemical vapour deposition (CVD) conditions enables the production of lightweight returnable bottles with around 20% weight reducing, which have nearly the same strength as conventional ones. The CVD conditions are: a) The temperature on an outer surface of the bottle ranged from 550-750 deg C; and b) The coating thickness of SnO2 film is in the range of 40-100nm.
