Determination Of Sulphur Dioxide Content In Conveyed Flows. Comparison Between The Ionic Chromatography Method In A Laboratory And Titration Using The Thorin Method In-Situ (In Italian)

In this study, the results of sulphur dioxide content determination in conveyed atmospheric emissions of hollow glass plants were compared using the two analytical methods foreseen by UNI EN 14791:2006, namely, ion chromatography and the Thorin method (titration with perchlorate barium using Thorin as indicator). The two methods differ based on their analytical principle and their implementation. Specifically, ion chromatography has to be performed in a laboratory as it requires use of a system that is not transportable, while the titration method can be executed in-situ with a portable system which allows experts to analyse samples in a fast, immediate way. This study verifies the applicability of UNI EN 14791:2006.
