The purpose of this Major Qualifying Project, submitted to the Faculty of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science, was to identify, analyze, and correct the down bottle problem being experienced by E&J Gallo Wineries. E&J Gallo Wineries in Modesto, CA experienced down bottles on their wine cooler bottling line causing large amounts of downtime. Research was done into the history of the bottling line along with analysis of the current process. A redesign of the single filing process and pre-filler rail segments was also completed. CAD models were developed for each area along with implementation of the pre-filler rails. The newly installed rails proved to reduce the vibrations in the pre-filler area and provided for a smoother entry into the filler.
