Defects From The Melting Process

Glass melting is a dynamic process and because of this there is an inherent level of glass defect production. The process of minimising these defects is the application of glass technology. Stone, cord and bubbble are the principal defects arising from the glass melting process. Various categories of these defects and their likely sources are described in this article. General reference is made to control measures and the use of glass technologists both internally and as an external resourse.
