Decorative B203 Containing Coloured Frits For Traditional Ceramics

B203 introduced as boric acid or as borax in glazes is unique because it acts simultaneously as a glass former, as a flux and as a viscosity stabiliser. Correct borate raw materials that are used in the production of frits are the key factor in preventing glaze defects including crazing and bubbling. On the other hand, their introduction in glaze compositions stimulated the creation of new more attractive decorative coatings. In this way, it is possible to satisfy the demand for anew range of traditional ceramics. Some new frit compositions have been developed in this study.
