Daylight As An Energy Saving Resource

This article looks at the savings potentials of using daylight as an energy saving resource. Good daylighting systems simultaneously satisfy quite contradictory functions: Protection against overheating by retro-reflection; Saving of electrical lighting through improved illumination of the room; Very good visual transmission for active shading. Daylighting systems that meet these high requirements save up to 30% of total energy consumption of office buildings.
