Dartington Crystal Record Results For 1997

The opening of Dartington's new glassworks on Plymouth's Barbican helped the company to achieve record profits last year, it was announced. This, combined with the introduction of new product ranges and a solid performance, saw operating profit at Dartington Crystal Group jump by 67% to £1.54m for the year ending 31 December 1997 on a turnover up 12% to £12.97m. The record results came in spite of the impact of the strong pound. The strong performance marked an excellent 1997 for Dartington, which also celebrated its 30th anniversary. It was also named as one of the region's most outstanding companies in the CBI's Operation Excellence awards.
