[Czech Republic] Manufacturer Withstands The Test Of Time

This article provides an overview of one of the world's oldest functioning glassworks is in a town called Harrachov, in the Czech Republic, about 90 miles north of Prague, close to the border with Poland. According to written documents possessed by the company, it began operating in 1712. The important word here, as its owner Frantisek Novosad explains, is "functioning" because there have been older factories in the past but all have now ended production. "This is the case of those on the island of Murano, Italy, or the glassworks in Chribska, Czech Republic, that date back to 1414, but in 2002 ceased to exist," he stated, adding that there was an older plant in Harrachov founded in 1630 but closed around 70 years later.
