Curtain Wall Systems - Emphasizing Structural Silicone

Current design methods and the impact of membrane stress on the performances of structural silicone are discussed and reviewed in this paper, which was presented at the Glass Processing Days conference in 2001. Developments are on the way to integrate new design methodology, incorporating strain in structural silicone. Quality control as an imperative part of the process, potential problems with poor mixing and their impact on the performance of the glass panel, as well as examples of failures due to poor mixing are examined critically.
