The TV glass industry in the United States has maintained an excellent safety record throughout its history. To protect that record the Electronics Industry Association (EIA) maintains a standing subcommittee JT-32 to monitor CRT safety issues. Other than the potential for electrical shock, which is not a direct function of the glass, three main areas must be considered for public safety. These are: Radiation absorption; Structural integrity (pressure strength); Missile (or ball) implosion protection.
