Criticism Of The German Deposit Amendment From Eu Member Countries

Denmark, France and Luxembourg have appealed against the planned amendment to the German packaging bill. Within the framework of the notification procedure, the three EU member countries have each submitted detailed statements on the planned reorganisation of deposit regulations for single-trip beverage packaging. The so-called standstill deadline which would have expired 7 February is therefore automatically extended until 6 May 2005. This means that the proposed deposit system cannot come into force until mid-2006 at the earliest.
